As part of the Global Network for Advanced Management, an international team of environment management, journalist, and business students came together to codevelop municipal planning projects hand-selected by David Jácome Polit, the Chief Resiliency Officer of Quito, Ecuador. As the population in Calderón is growing quickly, the lack of funding for complex infrastructure is a particular challenge for local government. Yet with strategic support, the area has great opportunity to promote physical, economic, and social development in a sustainable way.

Our team utilized, and expanded on, the City Resilience Framework to identifying key challenges and potential design solutions for resilient development within the Calderón district. Using existing plans for a Metropolitan Park as a catalyst, and in coordination with local leadership and planning experts, our team built outreach tools, environmental justice metrics, and financing strategies to assist the City in its planning process.

Gracias a Nelly Eseranza Carapaz, Presidente de Asociacion de Vivienda Colinas del Sol, y Wladimir de la Torre, Secretario Metropolitano De Territorio Habitat y Vivienda, por sus liderazgo.
